My name is Martin Mackenzie and I have been in education for 8 years. I joined Cambridge as a Physical Education teacher in February 2021, responsible for delivering IGCSE Physical Education and BTEC Sports curriculum across years 10-13, and at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year, I was promoted to become the Head of Year 9. My academic achievements include a Master’s in Education with a Leadership and Management Specialism (distinction), distinction award for my teaching qualification, and a BA Hons degree in Sports Coaching with Development. In my career I have been privileged to manage, create, and implement varied theoretical, practical, and vocational subjects to progress towards national agendas and impact multi-faceted cross-sections of society. I take pride in my managerial abilities to prioritize tasks, work towards strict deadlines, and surpass expectations. To date, my professional and academic experiences have fueled my comprehension to be a successful leader with a track record of materializing effective and collaborative change across various educational contexts. I possess a drive to educate and empower individuals with life-relevant problem-solving skills and inquisitiveness. I adopt a pedagogical approach that encourages individuals to take control of their learning and strive for autonomy in their field. It is a moral obligation for learning facilitators to ensure they provide a positive learning experience for every individual by being creative, forming avenues, and learning opportunities to encourage active participation and life-long learning.
